2008 'CHAMPAGNE MOMENT':
Voting is underway for this seasons 'Champagne Moment'. If you could get your ratings back to be by email as soon as possible that would be great. This seasons contenders, including a few of the ratings so far, are:

- 06/05/08 West Brom BC - Ammo took a two fingered catch low down to his left at point.
"8/10 - There are moments in life that will never be surpassed, and for Ammo, only passing his finance exams will better this. A great catch, but an even better celebration." D Price

- 06/05/08 West Brom BC - Chris took a diving one handed catch to his right.
"8/10 - Excellent catch, his pitch mark needed repairing afterwards." D Woolley
"9/10 - If Carlsberg did Wicket Keeping.... and more importantly, I have never known anyone put their face on the line so many times for the sake of preventing byes." D Price
"Can I also nominate Chris Robbins for a tape measure for some of the deliveries he let go down the leg side without calling them a wide whilst umpiring." J Coyne

- 08/05/08 Kings Heath - Saj ran in and took a stunning catch deep at cow (almost killing himself in the process).
"9/10 - Brilliant, taking into consideration he was struggling to see where the ball was coming from." D Woolley
"10/10 - Not just any old diving catch, this was an orgasmic, salmon like, chocolate covered with a cherry on top diving catch!" D Price

- 12/05/08 Bideford - Del scored the winning runs with a huge six over mid-on into the pavilion.
"Del's six at Bideford...clear evidence that there is many a good tune played on an old fiddle. 6/10." K Smith
"6/10 - Unfortunately, I have come to expect such stunning displays of power from the big man, and he suffers from the high level of expectation I have for him now. If a mere mortal had struck this blow it might have registered a 10/10" D Price

- 13/05/08 Braunton - Ammo's first ever catch at 1st slip to remove the opener in the first over.
"Ammo's slip catch at Braunton a close second, 8/10. For conquering his fear. That was a measure of true happiness!" K Smith
"8/10 - The shock on his face and ours told a story...." D Woolley

- 13/05/08 Braunton - Del hit their best player in the knee, injuring him for the rest of the game.
"Del's brutal attack on the opposition skipper at Braunton, when anger rises think of the consequences! did we win ???!. only deserves a 3." K Smith

- 21/05/08 Welford - Nigel took a good catch low at gully.
"Nigel's Gully Catch 7.5/10 - I would have marked higher if I could be convinced that he wasn't just leaning down to tie his laces as the ball was heading his way !!" J Coyne
"9/10 - I think he was turning to go to fine leg when the ball came, he then ducked hoping it would go over him. As he now couldn't get out of the way, and in perfect position, stuck a hand out and the rest is history..." D Woolley
"9/10 - Having a grand stand view of this catch, and blatant nepitism helps, this has to go down as a 9/10. However, I am basing this on the assumption that there was a dive involved rather than just a desperate lunge to prevent a treck to the boundary." D Price

- 11/06/08 Kings Heath - Del's swallow dive for a run-out at mid-off about about a metre from the stumps.

- 08/07/08 Martins - Dan took 4 catches and a run out in the match but one catch he took back-pedalling a long way before taking the catch over his shoulder falling backwards.
"10/10 - One of the most technically difficult catches to execute, this was class." D Woolley

- 22/07/08 Wragge - Del's stretching one-handed catch running round the boundary at mid-off to dismiss the opener and prevent a certain six.
"Del's catch at Wragge has it, 10/10 for show boating. They say if the sky is about to fall in, hold up your hands...or in his case one will do it." K Smith
"Del`s Catch against Wragge 9.5/10 - a real match winner !!
This takes into account the fact that at the time of the catch he would have been put off by an incredibly tall and handsome chap at long off !!!" J Coyne
"8/10 - A stunning catch, which rather reminded me of Sachin Tendulkar's effort at long off in the early 90's. It is likely that this would have got a 10/10 also if i was not so bitter over the London game parry for 6 off my bowling! (Im not bitter!)" D Price

- 13/09/08 HSBC London - Matt's mid-air Seaman save from beyond the boundary.
"9/10 - He knows the rules of cricket. If beyond the boundary you must have your feet in the air to touch the ball, excellent improvisation." D Woolley
"8/10 - Swanlake, Billy Elliot, etc. Last time I saw this sort of out of bounds retrieval was when Michael Jordan flipped an inside out hoopla to Shak from behind the game line, or maybe it was Ken retrieving his ball from the 7th tee while playing the third at Henley?!" D Price

The results will be announced and prizes presented at the awards night in November. Remember get your votes in before 6th October!

END OF SEASON:
The club's season came to an end on Saturday 13th September with a defeat to a strong HSBC London side, not helped by our own depleted line-up. That result now leaves us 3-1 down in the series of games in London and with work to do over the next couple of years to close the gap. Defeat aside, the team had a very enjoyable weekend and were more than relieved that the mini-bus survived the journey home this year. Thanks should go to the London section for hosting us excellently as ever, Chris Robbins for driving us down and back safely without taking any unnecessary detours and avoiding the majority of kerbs, and all those who contributed to a great weekend! If anyone has any photos from the weekend could they please get them to me or upload them on the site themselves in the photos sections.
